Ingredients:

  • 300g rice (rinsed with cold water)
  • 800g tomatoes (peeled and grated)
  • 1 onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 carrots (grated)
  • 1 red bell pepper (finely chopped)
  • 1 green bell pepper (finely chopped)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • Half a bunch of parsley (finely chopped)
  • 70g tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Red pepper flakes
  • Marjoram
  • 1 liter water
  • Cooking oil

Instructions:

  1. Sauté vegetables: Heat some oil in a pot. Add the onion, carrots, red and green bell peppers, and garlic. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until softened.
  2. Add tomatoes: Stir in the tomato paste and red pepper flakes. Add the grated tomatoes and sugar. Stir well.
  3. Simmer: Cover and simmer on medium heat for 20-25 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
  4. Add rice and seasonings: Add the rice and water. Season with salt, black pepper, marjoram, and parsley.
  5. Cook rice: Cover and simmer for an additional 20 minutes, or until the rice is cooked.
  6. Rest: Turn off the heat and let the rice sit for 15-20 minutes to absorb the sauce.
  7. Serve: Serve immediately.
