Instructions:
- Remove the crust from the bread slices and place them in a bowl. Cover them with the fresh milk and let them soak well.
- To the ground meat, add the finely chopped onion, the egg, the mustard, the soaked bread slices (without squeezing them out, so the meatballs will be fluffy and juicy). Season with salt, black pepper, paprika, and a little oregano. Knead the meat until everything is well mixed.
- Shape the meat mixture into meatballs about 50-60 grams each. You should get 13 meatballs. Coat the meatballs in flour. In a preheated pan, add a little oil and fry the meatballs on both sides until golden brown. Arrange the cooked meatballs in a baking dish.
- In a preheated saucepan, add a little oil and add the coarsely chopped onion and garlic cloves. Fry them for 1-2 minutes until they start to caramelize around the edges. Then add the tomatoes and about 200 milliliters (7 fl oz) of water. Season with salt, black pepper, oregano, and sugar. Stir and wait for the sauce to boil, then simmer for 20 minutes.
- 20 minutes later. Blend the tomato sauce. Pour the tomato sauce over the meatballs and place them in the oven. Bake for 20 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit), without a fan, in the lower part of the oven.
