Instructions:
- Wash the lentils thoroughly with cold water. Place the lentils in a pot and add about 2 liters (8 cups) of water. Turn the stove on to medium heat.
- Meanwhile, chop the onion and carrots finely and add them to the pot. Cut the potato in half and add it to the pot as well. The potato will boil down and thicken the soup. Put the lid on the pot and cook the lentils for about 30-40 minutes, or until 50 percent cooked.
- 40 minutes later, chop the garlic finely and add it to the pot. Add the tomatoes. Add oil. Season with salt, black pepper, paprika, and savory. Stir and let the lentils cook until fully cooked.
Enjoy!
Here are some additional tips:
- You can use any type of lentils you like.
- If you don’t have canned tomatoes, you can use fresh tomatoes.
- You can add other vegetables to the soup, such as celery, green beans, or zucchini.
- To make the lentil soup even more delicious, fry the onion and carrots in oil before adding them to the pot.
- Serve the lentil soup with your favorite sides, such as bread or crackers.
